Kendall and I just got back from a wonderful weekend in Chicago, but before I get to that, a few highlights from last week: Mady has been extremely excited about this orange blanket lately. She walks around saying "orange blanket!" and wants to take it outside, put it over her slide, pretend to take naps on it, pretty much anything she can think of. We've had fun reading books and coloring on it outside.
I had to put a picture of the dog on here. This dog is always by Swallow. Often he sleeps in front of our bedroom windows since they are behind bushes (This doesn't bother us unless an ambulance goes by in the middle of the night and causes him to start howling at it). I guess it's a good shelter for him! Apparently he has a home in town, but he's always on campus. Mady really enjoys "Puppy" although they are both very skittish around each other if they get closer than five feet or so:-)
This weekend Kendall and I went to Chicago with Chad and Kim and had a great time! We enjoyed some deep dish Saturday night and had a chance to reconnect with some college friends that we haven't seen in several years. Our hotel was right downtown so we spent Sunday morning leisurely walking through the city. We headed over to Millennium Park and had to check out the bean.
The highlight of the weekend, however, was the Cubs' 10-5 victory over the Diamondbacks. It was a beautiful day at Wrigley and we got to sing "Go Cubs Go", so we were very happy! I definitely was really missing Mady during the game, but she was in great hands with several of our wonderful friends back in Upland. I don't think she even missed us!
We got her an adorable Cubs outfit, but I had a hard time getting her to pose in it. Instead, I caught an action shot of her tossing her Cubs ball and falling at the same time. Hopefully we'll be able to bring her to a game in the next few years. She made her daddy very happy yesterday as she walked around telling people, "Go Cubs!"
