The next couple of days were a blur of packing and tough goodbyes to our fabulous Upland friends. We left Upland July 6. Kendall drove straight through to Orange City, and Mom, Mady, Drew, and I stopped in Des Moines to spend the night with Nick, Allison and Kaylee. It was nice to break up the trip a bit. Since then we've been busy unpacking and settling back into life in Orange City. Our apartment is small, but we knew that coming in, and it feels more spacious than we thought it might. We are liking it quite a bit and I'll post pictures of that soon as well! We had some trouble with the air conditioning, but there was only one super hot day and it seems to be working well now, thankfully! We're thankful that we can go to Mom and Dad's whenever we need to, and we are thankful for working AC during this crazy heat wave!
Mady and Drew are doing pretty well. Mady loves being by our family, but she is missing the familiarity of our old apartment and her close friends in Upland. I think she's getting more used to things each day. Mady is fighting a rough cold or allergies right now, and Drew has a bit of a cough as well, so hopefully those don't get worse.
We've added two new nephews to our family! Matt (Kendall's brother) and Jamie welcomed Graham Elias on July 7. We're excited to meet him! They live in Denver, so we aren't sure when that will be, but we are definitely looking forward to getting to know Graham. Noah (my brother) and Brittany welcomed Malakye (Kye) Russell on July 12. They live in Orange City so we've enjoyed seeing him grow so much already this past week!
Kendall and I celebrated our 6th anniversary last Saturday. Dan and Lisa came up for the afternoon, and then we went out for supper and to Sioux City. It was a nice day to spend reflecting on all of the ways God has blessed our family over the past six years!
We are planning on spending a couple of days at Okoboji this weekend, and then we will have one more week before Kendall starts work. I'll start my job August 15. We miss our Upland family very much but we are very grateful to be back in Orange City working at a school we love near our family we love!
