What a refreshing and enjoyable Easter weekend we've had! We headed down to Blencoe on Thursday night and spent Friday and Saturday hanging out with the Stanislavs. Grandma Lisa made resurrection rolls with Drew and Mady. Unfortunately, Drew couldn't wait until they were baked to have a taste.
There were Easter egg hunts in the yard,
and tractor rides to help Papa Danny plant the corn!
Mady's ride included a lesson on seeds and planting, which coincides nicely with their unit on seeds and plants at school.
Mady wrote a story entitled, "The Difference Between Easter Eggs and Raindrops". The answer? Raindrops have a point and eggs don't. She held a reading for all of us. Her love of science shows up quite often!
Jack just smiled a lot, as usual.
Drew wanted to fly a kite, so Lisa whipped up a nifty IKEA bag kite. It sort of worked. They had fun trying, anyway!
Jack wasn't sure about the feel of grass.
His solution? Don't touch it.
We came home Saturday night so that we could worship at Trinity and eat dinner with the Timmermans family. Posed pictures of the kids are so hard right now! They were adorable, though.
The highlight of Sunday afternoon was pony rides at the farm. I was shocked that both kids and the cousins all actually rode the horse. I thought they would be all talk! And yet the tiny little dog had to get locked in the garage while we played outside. Oh well. You win some, you lose some:-) Mady bravely started everyone off with a ride on Opal the pony and loved it.
Drew sat on her, but didn't want to ride.
Playing with rocks seemed like more fun.
Jack played with papa and avoided the horse.
After Mady rode for the second time, Drew decided to give it a go and rode around as well!
What a wonderful time we had celebrating the hope of the resurrection with our family. This year it is especially poignant, as both of my grandmas have passed away since late January. I'm thankful that because of God's love displayed on the cross, someday I will see them again!
