Drew is 3!

We have a three year old on our hands today! Drew is such a joy, and we are so thankful for his life. Drew is a happy, energetic, sweet, stubborn, bright and wonderful little boy. I mentioned it in my last blog post, but his imagination is bursting right now. We love listening to him play, especially with his superheros. He actually got a few new ones today, and it wasn't too long before he was declaring that Batman and Superman were totally BFFs! (He would totally be on board with the new Batman/Superman movie) He loves Mady and Jack more than just about anything and wants to do whatever Mady is doing. He can often be found playing dollhouse and wearing a pink bracelet. Hazards of life with a big sister! He loves the color orange and would wear basketball shorts and a tank top every day if he could get away with it. He enjoys reading books and can sit for quite awhile if he's absorbed by the story. Drew does have a bit of a stubborn streak. For instance, as I type this he has tried to escape from his rest time at least 7 times. He's a bit different from his big sister in that regard! He has quite the pouty expression when he doesn't get his way. Unfortunately for him, it makes me laugh more than feel sympathetic to his plight. I'm looking forward to warm weather for so many reasons, but one of my top reasons is to see how much he loves being outside. Between riding his bike, his new skateboard, drawing with chalk, and just exploring, I think I'm going to be fighting a losing battle to get him inside. He's so much fun and we love our sweet boy so very much.

Drew's birthday festivities really started last night, with a sleepover and movie party in the living room. The kids have been begging to sleep in the living room for awhile now, so we hauled out their mattresses and stayed up late watching The Incredibles. When they woke up this morning, Mady was very eager to give Drew the headband and card she had made for him at school. She loves creating things with paper!

He was very excited to open the rest of his presents, and after that the kids enjoyed some balloon pancakes and got ready for church. Drew got to go to Kingdom Kids today, which is the 3-4 class. He was a bit hesitant leading up to it, but walked right in and loved it. Such a big boy!

We had Drew's Superhero party with the Adams family after church.Yesterday was Elly's first birthday so we had to get a picture of Grandpa and Grandma with the birthday boy and girl.

After homemade pizza and presents we enjoyed a delicious cake made by Aunt Allison just for Super Drew.

Apparently blowing out candles was such an ordeal that it made him go cross-eyed.

The big kids got superhero capes for Christmas a year ago, so we broke those out in keeping with the theme. They always enjoy playing together!

Happy birthday, buddy. We thank God for blessing us with you each day. We love you and can't wait to see how you grow in the year to come!
