Happy (very belated) Birthday, Sweet Mady!

Mady turned four on June 6. I'm extremely behind on blogging about this, but I can't pass up the opportunity to gush about my baby for a bit:-) It's hard to imagine a sweeter, kinder girl. Mady loves people so well. She is such a kind sister. She's infinitely patient with Drew, even when he wants her toys. Instead of getting angry and crying about it, she'll come up with something to distract him or trade with him. She gushes over how cute he is and is so happy to give him a hug and a kiss. She loves to cuddle with us and read books or watch a movie (or Cupcake Wars, or Dancing with the Stars, her two favorite reality TV shows!), and she loves to be silly, especially with her daddy. They are two peas in a pod:-) She loves to pretend right now. In a five minute span I go from being the mom, to the sister, to the grandma, to the aunt, to the baby, and she and Drew, or whoever we are with, change characters just as many times. Her imagination exhausts me sometimes, but I'm glad it is so vibrant. She loves to make crafts and draw pictures. She also has a new-found love of legos. It's fun to watch her sit there and follow the picture directions and build a house. She has an incredible attention span for a four year old! Right now she has an imaginary friend named Pascal. He's actually not all that original. She stole him from the movie "Tangled". Pascal often gets in trouble for sticking his tongue in her ear, just like he did to Flynn Ryder. Again, silly girl:-) One of our favorite things, though, is watching her learn to love Jesus. She often makes up verses and songs for us, and she loves to pray before every meal. Today she was outside playing on her own and Kendall went out to check on her. She was laying on the ground and he asked her what she was doing, and she informed him that she was just talking to God. She's the best and we love her so very much!

We were able to have two parties for Mady this year. The first was in Upland, on her actual birthday. It was so special for us to celebrate with our dear friends in Indiana. When we got back we had a party with our family. Everyone came over to the North Suites and we took over the lounge. We have plenty of room when the guys aren't around! Mady wanted a rainbow-themed birthday this year. I made some cute cupcakes for our Upland party, but they really don't even compare to the completely awesome rainbow cake Allison made for us! The coloring in my pictures doesn't really do the cake justice, but it was delicious and beautiful. Thanks again, Allison!
