Labor Day

Labor Day festivities are a pretty big deal in Upland. The weekend kicks off with a bang on Friday with city-wide garage sales that go on throughout the remainder of the weekend. It wraps up on Monday with a parade down the main highway in town. We skipped out on the festivities last year but decided to take them in this year. We went over to our friends the Millers for a pre-parade breakfast with a big group of people.

Mady had fun waving around this stick. Unfortunately, she recently figured out how to pretend to shoot things. I'm pretty sure that's what she is doing here.

There were lots of kids to clean up all of the candy thrown our way! They were all a bit more excited about it than Mady was, which was pretty nice. She was more into eating the leftover fruit we brought than digging into her candy stash! The four kids in the front of the picture are Sam, Isa, Ollie, and Benjamin. They are some of Mady's absolute favorite people. She also loves Bekah, Drew, and Ryan (the grown-ups)!

Here are Kendall and Mady before the parade got started. She looks pretty excited, don't you think?

Then came the most obnoxious part of a parade I've ever been to in my life. Nearly every emergency vehicle in Grant County seemed to be there and they all had their sirens blaring, one after the other. This is well over halfway through the lineup and the end is still not in sight. It was so loud!

As you can tell from this picture,  Mady thought it was pretty obnoxious too:-)  But overall, we had a lot of fun spending time in the beautiful weather with good friends!
