We celebrated with family on Sunday afternoon and Mady got to pick the menu (chicken and rice, with fruit pizza for birthday dessert. She's got my taste!) She had fun running and playing with cousins.
On Tuesday a few of her good friends came to my mom and dad's to play in the sprinkler. The favorite activity quickly became "throw water on Mady's dad". Luckily, he's a good sport:-)
We're thankful that Mady has such good friends!
She really wanted a pinata this year. We picked a bunch of candy with gold wrappers to fill it. Did you know that most candy with gold wrappers is chocolate? And did you know that chocolate starts to melt in 80 degree weather? I did too, but I didn't think about it until the party was under way. I think (actually I know) we got it inside quickly enough that it was still edible.
Aunt Allison made some delicious red velvet cupcakes, Blue Bunny made some delicious birthday cake ice cream, and we had lots of happy girls.
We went to Blencoe the next Thursday and Mady got to help Grandma Lisa decorate a birthday cake. She was pretty pumped to make a pink ombre cake. Thanks Pinterest!
She also got to experience trick candles for the first time. She took it well:-)
Mady is such a joy. She is sweet, kind, and tenderhearted. She loves to learn and she loves to read. She really blossomed this past year in kindergarten and loves to be with her friends whenever she can. She is so patient and loving with both of her brothers, and Drew can often be counted on to echo whatever Mady has just said (usually cute, but quite frustrating at meal times when she decides she doesn't like something!). She's very playful and loves to goof around with her daddy. She's spent 5 of her 6 years living in small dorms, and loves the guys we live with and the attention they give her. She's a pretty good little piano player and is still quite creative, when she has the patience to sit still long enough to make something. She just finished her first chapter book all by herself and was quite proud. So were we! She's becoming more confident and brave (she went down the big slide at the pool the other day and loved it!) She loves to go to church and participate in all of the children's ministries. She got her very own Bible for her birthday and was pumped about it. She's learning more and more about loving Jesus, and we hope that she falls deeper and deeper in love with her Savior. We are so thankful that we get to be Mady's parents! She is a wonderful child and such a blessing to our family. We love you, Madyson Nicole!
