Mady asked awhile back if she could celebrate her birthday with the boys before school was done since they will be gone for her actual birthday. I mentioned this to Brett and he ran with it, throwing Mady an extra-special princess surprise party attended by many of her favorite people on campus. The night started off a bit rocky. When Brett came to get her and she realized what was going on she refused to leave the apartment. She was embarrassed to be the center of attention, I think (which is ironic, considering how she normally thrives on all the attention she gets around here!) With a little help from Caleb wearing Kendall's Cubs jersey (a major sacrifice as a die-hard Cardinals fan) and Papa Russ coming to carry her out, she eventually warmed up and had a blast. Her quote later in the night: "I was scared at first, but it was GREAT!"
I'm sure there are people that think we are a bit strange to live our life and raise our kids with a bunch of college students, but our kids are seriously loved and get to grow up feeling extra special each and every day. So thank you, Brett and everyone else in the North Suites and around campus, who invest in our children. We are grateful to you all!
Brady made Mady a super-cool princess crown. She wore that crown and Tinkerbell badge nearly non-stop for the next several days.
People colored special pictures and made her cards.
Caleb's ultimate sacrifice that we all enjoyed quite a bit:-)
The princess tent everyone went in on and bought for her.
Enjoying the tent with Drew.
So sweet!!
