Drew is 2!

Drew turned 2 yesterday. Where has the time gone?!? We are so thankful for this precious little boy. He has such a fun, vibrant personality and is so full of love and energy. He is currently obsessed with all things sports, and has spent most of the last week wearing "basketball clothes" (shorts) whenever we are at home. We spent the week trying to teach him that he was turning two, but whenever we would ask how old he was going to be, his answer was basketball. This was initially an innocent response, but once he figured out that we thought it was funny, he wouldn't say anything else:-) He loves his sister and wants to do pretty much anything she does. He is talking up a storm and repeats just about any word he hears someone say. It's fun watching him string thoughts together. Last night we were watching basketball before bed and Kendall asked him if he was going to play basketball someday. He quickly shook his head yes, and then said Jayhawks. He's already planning to play basketball for KU. His daddy is so proud! Of course, he did follow that up with pom poms, and said he would play with the pom poms too. I guess only time will tell! Drew loves his papas more than just about anything and gets incredibly excited when we spend time with his grandparents. He also loves playing with his cousins and several of the guys in the hall. He brings a smile to everyone's face and melts my heart pretty much every day! We love him so much and can't wait to see all the ways God grows him in the year to come.

We started off Drew's birthday with a trip to the bakery, just like we do every Saturday morning. He wanted a basketball cookie, and proceeded to lick off the frosting with out eating a single bite of cookie. Go figure.

Mady was so excited to get him a birthday present. Since she got her goldfish when she turned two, she was adamant that Drew get one for his second birthday as well. We went to Wal-Mart Friday night and she used her own money to buy him a fish, a balloon, and a card. She kept asking what else she could buy him. She has such a sweet, giving personality! Drew was pumped about everything she got him. I think she may win the award for favorite present.

In addition to loving the Jayhawks, both kids love the Cubs. Drew got his own Cubbies hat for his birthday. Go Cubs, go!

He also got a balance bike. He didn't want to wait for Daddy to adjust the seat before taking off!

We celebrated with grandparents and some of his aunts, uncles, and cousins. He had a blast opening presents and did a pretty good job of sharing his new toys with his two younger cousins who were very interested in what was going on.

We had homemade pizza for lunch, and then enjoyed yet another delicious cake made by Aunt Allison. I love having a talented baker in the family! Thanks again, Allison!

Drew loved blowing out his candles. We had to light them twice because he was so quick to blow them out the first time that we couldn't get any pictures. He kept saying, "Again! Again!"

All in all, we had a great day celebrating such a sweet, special little boy. We love you, Andrew John!
