Well, our computer isn't working right now, so I've been procrastinating on a blog post. Since I've got some free time (and more importantly, free hands) at my parents' right now, I figured an update without pictures will have to do!
Drew will be one on Friday. Where has the time gone? He's a walking machine right now, and loves to explore. He likes to walk to our door that goes out to the lounge and points and fusses until we open it for him to go out and play. He loves playing with balls, pretty much all the time. It's so much fun watching him learn and make connections! The other day we were getting ready to go somewhere and Drew walked over to the shoe rack, pulled his shoes out, and turned around ready to hand them to me. Yesterday he had his little basketball in his hands and walked over to the hoop, stood underneath it, and lifted his hands up to try and shoot it. We're pretty proud:-) He loves to wave at people and has started clapping quite a bit. He hates when we change his diaper and clothes because he has to be still but has recently started complying as long as I sing "Old McDonald". We think he's dropping one of his naps, which isn't our favorite idea, but I guess that's life! He's also gotten really comfortable with dorm life and will walk up to several of the guys with his arms out, ready to be picked up.
Mady continues to entertain us daily. I've got a great video that I'll have to remember to put on here once we get our computer back up and running. She's got a lot of religious lingo that's she's picked up from her Bible stories and learning the Lord's Prayer. She likes to recite "verses" and "stories" to us that crack us up. Which just eggs her on and makes them last longer. We often feel like Mady is 3 going on 17. A couple of weeks ago she was out in the hall (there is a roomful of boys that leave their door open almost all the time. It's known as the party room and she often ends up there). I wasn't too concerned because we really like and trust these guys, but I figured I'd better go check on her after about 10 minutes. She was sitting there playing some sort of Mario with them so Drew and I stood in the doorway watching. She looked at me after a couple of minutes and told me that I should go find dad and that she would be okay on her own. I just had to laugh! She's still more comfortable with college students than fellow three year olds, but she and Kaylee have a blast playing together and she has a few friends that we hear about pretty regularly.
We are headed to Florida this coming weekend for a family vacation with the Stanislavs. We can't wait! I'm sure I will have lots of great pictures and stories to share when we get back. I have no doubt that a one-year-old at the beach will keep us on our toes! Mady keeps correcting us when we say we are going to Florida for vacation and says that we are going to Florida for Spring Break. Both are true, but I hope she stays in the habit of going to Florida with mom and dad on Spring Break as the years go by:-)
I can't believe he is going to be 1!!! Where does the time go? Wish we could party with you. Enjoy Florida. You are missed.
